In Bangkok, Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) launched a capacity building program aimed at imparting employable digital skills to more than 100 female university students in 2017, with support from CISCO Systems (Thailand), Microsoft (Thailand), and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. 

The launch of the program titled "Digital Skills For Girls - Target Employment" was done at the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, Thailand. The opening session was addressed by Mr Ioane Koroivuki, Regional Director, ITU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific; Mr Masanori Kondo, Deputy Secretary General, Asia-Pacific Telecommunity; and Ms Rajana Netsaengtip, Inspector General, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, Thailand.

The event was attended by participants from the Ministry, UN and international organisations, industry and academia. 

The key objective of the program is to enhance employment opportunities for female university students in Thailand by imparting employable digital skills relevant for the local job market.

The program will be open for participation from girls in universities in Thailand invited by MDES and partners. The areas of training identified for this program are AgriTech Entrepreneurship using ICTs, CCNA Security and Code your first website.

The actual training will be conducted at the TOT Academy, Nonthaburi during the university summer breaks in the week of 17-21 July, 2017.
