ORGANIZATION FORMATION

                 2013

 

The organization was started by a group of young Liberians. (Founders) for the purpose of bringing relief to the less fortunate and the vulnerable girls/young women of Liberia for Economic empowerment through ICT training, leadership training, life skills development and advocacy for girl’s empowerment through financial aids for education.

ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS

Girls in ICT –Liberia is  Nation Builders’ gender desk girl’s empowerment program that is women led and work to foster GIRLS AND women issues.  

PROGRAM BENEFICIARIES 

The direct beneficiaries of Girls in ICT-Liberia program are young Women and Girls, vulnerable Teen mothers in school and out of school.

 

GIRLS IN ICT-LIBERIA PROJECT 

 focus in the areas of skills training for economic empowerment, advocating for young and vulnerable teen mothers and women Right, ICT training, Vocational and Technology education, Lifelong program, young woman Education, School based Awareness Campaign, on issues that affect girls, education Outreach Programs, scholarships provision, and campaign on domestic violence and sexual gender based violence against young women.

IMPLEMENTATION HISTORY:

Since the formation of Girls in ICT-Liberia PROJECT  in 2013, the Project / program has been involved with training girls/young women in the areas ICT skills training, small business development, leadership, career development and job preparation and advocacy.  Girls in ICT-Liberia have joined other national and international institutions to celebrate major girl’s events including; International Days of Girls in ICT, Day of the African child, international youth day and the national youth day.

 

CHALLENGES:

Inspite of the many achievements with limited resources, Girls in ICT-Liberia has major challenges in the areas of capacity gap, logistic needs and limited funding .Girls in ICT –Liberia depends on local partners and good WILL  individuals to fund her programs.

 

PARTNERS

In little over three years, Girls in ICT-Liberia PROJECT has extended her national image through       networking and partnership. The PROJECT  admiration and gained partnership with BSTI, Kids for Peace International Chapter Liberia, MRU Youth Parliament Liberia Chapter, Youth United for Social Development, End Poverty Initiative and Youth Crime Watch of Liberia.


THIS YEAR'S 2017 EVENT CELEBRATION WAS MARK WITH :

1. APRIL 27, 2017 A RADIO TALK SHOW WAS HELD ON EXCEL COMMUNICATION T-FIVE -97.1FM 

2. APRIL 28,2017 AN INDOOR PROGRAM WAS HELD WITH FOUR HIGH SCHOOLS PARTICIPATING IN DEBATE ON THE TOPIC: " REDUCING GIRLS DISCRIMINATION AND PROMOTE GIRLS EMPOWERMENT THROUGH ICT" .

FOLLOW BY A DINNER ON THE APRIL 29,2017 AND CERTIFICATION OF THE WINNING SCHOOL AT A LOCAL ENTERTAINMENT CENTER IN PAYNESVILLE.
