State Committee for Information Technologies and Communications of Kyrgyz Republic: Girls in ICT Forum

Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications (IET) under Kyrgyz State Technical University (KSTU) named after Iskhak Razzakov, the ITU Academia Member, works throughout the year for implementation of the Girls in ICT initiative. In particular, schoolgirls facing career choice are invited to the excursion over the IET and acquainted with career opportunities in the ICT sector. The IET female students are involved in the professional orientation activities, since their opinion is more trustful for the schoolgirls, who are of approximately the same age.

The IET female students actively participate in the IET scientific activities and different professional competitions: in particular Ms. A.Toktomambetova and Ms. A.Turdukulova participated in the ICT Student Competition organized by Nokia in November 2016 in Moscow.

On 27 April 2017, the State Committee for Information Technologies and Communications of Kyrgyz Republic jointly with the Public Administration Academy under the President of Kyrgyz Republic and with financial support of the World Bank organized a forum dedicated to the Girls in ICT Day. The forum was attended by female students of the IET. Among the speakers of the forum, there were women who achieved professional success in the field of ICT. A presentation was delivered by Ms. Gulnara Abdyllayeva, the IET Director. Success stories were presented by other speakers: Ms. Nurzat Bolzhobekova, Head, External Affairs Department, State Committee of Information Technologies and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic; Dr. Hyeun-Suk Rhee is Director of the United Nations Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (UN-APCICT); Ms. Zamira Dzhusupova, Senior International Consultant, World Bank, Washington; Ms. Shirin Mukanbetova, Executive Director, Kyrgyz Association of Software Developers and Services; Ms. Ainura Dzhumusheva, Chief Legal Officer, ZAO Alfa Telecom; Ms. Veronika Yurchenko, Head, Attractor Software and others.
