 American University of Nigeria (AUN) Sensitizes Girls in Yola to Pursue Careers in ICT

On April 5th through April 7th 2017, the American University of Nigeria commenced a series of ICT career talk for adolescent girls in secondary schools within Yola South and Yola North Local Government areas of Adamawa State Nigeria, as part of the Girls in ICT Day pre-event activities.

The Schools visited were Government Day Secondary School Yolde Pate, Government Day Secondary School Bako, Government Day Secondary School Old GRA, Government Day Junior Secondary School, Karewa, Kanzul Islam Academy, Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) Number 1 Yola Town Academy, Aliyu Mustapha College, Upper Benue Staff  Secondary School, Ladi Atiku Secondary School, Government Day Secondary School Yola Town, Government Day Secondary School Hammawa Toungo, and Sanda Government Girls Junior Secondary School Yola.

A total of 600 girls participated in the ICT career talks organized by AUN in preparation for the Girls in ICT Day; however AUN could not hold the final event, notwithstanding, the university is planning to fully participate in the 2018 Girls in ICT Day.

The team members who orchestrated the career talks include Dr. Fidelis NdehChe, an Assistant  Professor of the School of Information Technology and Computing and also the Executive Manager Projects and Proposals of the American University of Nigeria, Miss Daniel Ussah who holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree, Miss Natasha Edeh another Engineering graduate and also a Masters student of Information Sytems, Joshua Adeloye , an Information Systems graduate and a Masters student of the same course and Mr Sampson Igbinoba a Project Coordinator, all at AUN.
