Tele2 Shared Service Center "Girls Make IT Happen"

In order to encourage girls to consider possibility to follow career related to exact sciences and to show the creative side of IT field, for the second year, Tele2 Shared Service Center on the last Thursday of April organizes the event "Girls Make IT Happen" within the international "Girls in ICT" day.

Programme of measures includes the following:

 

  • Ivars Austers, Professor of Social Psychology at the University of Latvia, will tell about the current stereotypes dominating during the choice of the future profession,

  • Ilze Dimanta, Doctor of Microbiology and winner of the UNESCO L'Oreal scholarship for women in science, will share her opinion on availability of science and woman's opportunities in that field,

  • Laurel Freyja, co-founder and head of the Riga TechGirls movement, will share her experience regarding necessity of knowledge in IT and application thereof in the everyday life,

  • Alīna Karpelceva, co-founder of the Riga TechGirls movement and head of programming workshops, will inspire with her stories about the daily work of a woman-programmer,

  • Amanda Kļaviņa, second year student of the Faculty of Information Technology of the Latvian University of Agriculture and winner of the award named after the world's first female programmer, Lady Ada Lovelace, will share her choice in favour of IT studies and programming.
