Movement 4 Change - Girls with disabilities that Code

4/27/2017

Africa, Zambia, Lusaka, Lusaka Province, Zambia

The gender gap in the I.T profession goes further than seeing few women

among a company’s tech team, it also spans rarely seeing women with

Disabilities as part of the tech team. If we would like to close this gap, we

need to work from the bottom up, we need to start exposing and encouraging

girls with Disabilities to join the I.T profession.

In today's technological world the ability to learn I.T skills amounts to personal

capital and we need to equip more girls with Disabilities with lifelong personal

capital. It is believed capital is a primary pre-requisite to being a successful

entrepreneur, contributor to national development, creator of a successful

nation and find purpose. Successful people stimulate the economy,

identify and penetrate new, untapped markets. This directly results in

economic growth: thereby reducing poverty, reducing youth unemployment

rate and refining the Standard of Living for ALL.
