In 2016, a group of five Abuja-based organisations - Media Range Ltd, IBI Centre, Veritrax Solutions, Jamisi Network and icom.ng - organized the International Girls in ICT Day in Abuja with over 120 secondary school girls in attendance in a show of support for the initiative and as their contribution to the drive for greater gender inclusiveness in the field of ICT in Nigeria. The event exposed the secondary school girls to young women in the field of ICT who came to share their motivations, passions and dreams with them.

This year, the organisations are partnering with Daydah Concepts Limited, Automattic (Wordpress, WooCommerce etc.) and other private and public sector stakeholders to organize another Girls-in-ICT Day in Abuja event with a target audience of over 250 secondary school girls. The event will be marked by ICT exhibitions, motivational talks by Abuja-based young women in ICT as well as live-streamed talks by women coders from Automattic.
