Donghu High-tech Development Zone was approved by the state in 2001 as a national optoelectronics industry base, that is, "Wuhan-China Optical Valley." The zone built China's largest fiber optic cable and optoelectronic devices production base, the largest optical communications technology research and development base as well as the largest laser industry base.
