The 2025 19 WSIS Prizes Winners (one in each of the 18 Action Line Categories plus a Special Recognition) represent the top 2% of ICT for development projects submitted to the WSIS Prizes 2025! Selected from the most voted and highest-rated Champions, these projects were ultimately chosen by an expert group convened by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for their outstanding merit, originality, impact, and contribution to sustainable development. Being a Winner is the highest honor in the WSIS ecosystem. It affirms a project’s role in helping to shape the future of our global information society and setting a benchmark for innovation, scalability, and positive change across the ICT sector.

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes, facilitated by ITU, is a prestigious global platform recognizing outstanding initiatives that leverage ICTs for sustainable development. Since its first edition in 2012, the WSIS Prizes event has become an integral part of the WSIS Stocktaking process, in conjunction with the WSIS Action Lines and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The contest spans all 18 Action Line Categories, each linked to the WSIS Geneva Plan of Action and the SDGs. These include areas such as e-government, e-health, cybersecurity, e-learning, media, and enabling environments, reflecting the diversity and potential of ICTs as enablers of inclusive development.

In 2025, the WSIS Prizes saw 973 project submissions from stakeholders across governments, private sector entities, civil society, academia, and international organizations. Following a rigorous review and public voting process, the foremost projects have been selected and will be celebrated in three distinct tiers of recognition: Nominees, Champions, and Winners.

Be a part of the WSIS Prizes 2025 Winner’s and Champion's Ceremony and join us in acknowledging the innovators who are shaping the future of the information society and driving sustainable development through the power of ICTs!
