MObile based maTernal HEalth awareness

Description

‘MOTHER’ (MObile based maTernal HEalth awareness) is a mobile based application for providing personalized maternal health related information directly to the pregnant and lactating women through voice calls in regional languages. MOTHER capitalizes on the omnipresent mobile phone’s core utility of ‘voice calls’ among rural communities, particularly illiterate women. Timely availability of critical information to a pregnant woman contributes significantly to reducing MMR and IMR. The encouraging outcomes of the pilot demonstration of the system have resulted in it being used in two states, besides interest evinced at the national level for integration with National Rural Health Mission.
