UYAP is an e-justice system as a part of the e-government, which has been developed in order to ensure a fast, reliable, soundly operated and accurate judicial system. As a central network project it includes all of the courts, all citizens, court staff, lawyers, public prosecutors services, prisons, other judicial institutions and government departments in Turkey and makes use of ICT in all judiciary processes. UYAP is carried out by the IT Department of MoJ with a view to improving the functioning of the judiciary and to creating an effective and less bureaucratic judiciary for the concerned institutions and individuals.
