WSIS Prizes Contest 2019 Nominee

EpicQueen

Description

EpicQueen is a Mexican non-profit organization that works for girls and woman in order expand and built their skills and leadership in the world of technology. This civil society initiative tries to overcome the gender digital gap in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics). They are working in different activities such as:
• Develop science and technology education programs for girls and women.
• Create local communities of Epic Queen in cities of Mexico and other parts of the world.
• Conduct meetups, events and talks with young people and women leaders in STEAM.
They usually make workshops for little girls from 6 to12 years old. They believe that if we have more experimented girls at coding, programming and technology environment in general, women can build their future in a stronger and easier way. Nowadays, 94% of the leadership roles in the world of technology are occupied just by man. This is an evident inequality.
