Millicom Connected Women

Description

Millicom is leading the way in gender equality in the telecommunications industry. In Latin America and the Caribbean, 49% of women are not connected while the number rises to over 67% in Sub-Saharan Africa. As one of the leading mobile operators in Latin America and Africa, we believe it is our responsibility to break down digital gender barriers and connect women worldwide, empowering communities and supporting women’s integration into local economies. It is for this reason that we have taken a leadership role in closing the digital gender divide through our pioneering commitment to GSMA’s Connected Women Initiative in Latin America and Africa. The aim of the initiative is to increase the proportion of women utilizing mobile internet and mobile money services so that we can reduce the digital gender divide.
