A home-based system has been developedthat allows the connecting of elderlypersons with their families, friendsand other significant people over the Internet.The resulting system uses ambientdisplays, tangible interfaces andwearable devices providing ubiquitousoptions for interaction, and secondarysensors for additionally generatingcarefully chosen information about theperson’s wellbeing and activity that canbe selectively relayed to significant otherpersons.AGNES helps to enrich social networkingof elderly people who may be in dangerof becoming isolated and enhancesfeelings of security and social connectedness,without technical intrusion. Thetechnology innovation is an ambient interactionwith the social network, withoutthe need of using a computer and anambient and wearable display of relevantinformation to the elderly.The social network platform (ModernFamilies) is already active on the market.Ambient sensing is in product developmentstatus (Modern Families).
