Latex Glove Samples Protein Determination System

Latex Glove Protein Determination

Description

This project involved the development of latex glove samples protein determination system. The main objectives of the system are reducing the manpower required in order to perform the entire processes and shorten the time taken of the protein testing process from several hours to one hour. The system formed by three phases of machines: the cutting machine that retrieve several samples from a single latex glove; the chemical binding machine that bind the chemical reagent on the surface of all samples at once; and scanning machine that the samples image for further protein concentration analyse and this developed system patented (PI2018002435). The patented (PI20190026797) samples cutting machine consist of a rotary cutter actuator with CNC mechanism that allows different sizes of the glove can be cut into several latex glove samples into desired dimension. The chemical binding machine consists of several types of nozzle and releases different solution on the samples which included chemical reagent, distilled water and compressed air that perform the binding, washing and drying processes.

Replicability

The machines used in the system able to perform the protein concentration measurement test repeatable with minor maintenance.

Sustainability

The Latex Glove Samples Protein Determination System can be operating and use for almost every latex or glove manufacturer. With the aid of the system, the protein concentration of latex glove samples can be measured and ease the Quality Assurance (QA) in those manufacturer.

The technology reduces the manpower required to perform the protein determination test and shorten the time take to complete the testing of a glove sample. The system performs with semi-automation with the combination of cutting, chemical binding and scanning machines.

Thus, due to the fact that healthcare workers wearing the glove from time to time, the possibility of inducing latex allergy is high. With this technology, the latex allergy spread among the healthcare workers can be reduced by determine the protein concentration on the latex glove.

WSIS values promotion

The project scientific technology is able to provide benefit to the rubber, latex or glove manufacturer sector. This met the WSIS principle E-science, which beneficiary and ensures all the well-being in healthy lives. It fulfil the WSIS value of benefits in all aspects of life, E-science.
