In 2015, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has introduced the eRezeki programme, a programme that was designed based on the Crowdsourcing / Sharing Economy models. The programme facilitates matching of individual participants with jobs or tasks offered by various marketplace platforms via comprehensive profiling, training and on-boarding process. The main target group of this programme are individuals from lower-income households, unemployed and underemployed, pensioners, veterans as well as individuals with disabilities.The eRezeki programme has opened up wider opportunities for Malaysian to perform work in a flexible environment, leveraging on their idle time, underutilized physical assets, with their certain knowledge and skills. To date, more than 450,000 Malaysian citizens have registered in the programme and more than 100,000 has benefitted by earning additional income on digital platforms.

The model of eRezeki project is replicable in other state or by industry sector. The important ecosystem components are :1) Centralised platform whose role is to validate marketplace platform and aggregate tasks to be matched with digital workers. 2) Programme to facilitate profiling of workers, onboarding onto verified marketplace platforms to be matched with suitable tasks.3) Crowd management programme for continuous engagement and drive participation.4) Governance structure and models to facilitate multi-stakeholder engagement and address other enablers (e.g. access to ICT infra and regulations)5) Programme to encourage adoption of Crowdsourcing / Sharing Economy solutions by local corporations
The eRezeki Programme is sustainable by leveraging on 3 main revenue stream as follows :1) Professional / management fees on value-added services performed by MDEC to the Sharing Economy Platform Partners. Examples of value-added services are as follows : - connecting platform partners to potential business leads- addressing the shortage of supply through strategic collaboration with local communities & associations2) Fees from skills upskilling programme of some of the participants. Examples, transcription and translation training and certification.3) Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) Programmes with local conglomerates, MNCs and GLCs for training and on-boarding programme of lower-income household to the programme
The eRezeki programme promotes WSIS values in the society by empowering the poor, particularly those living in remote, rural and marginalized areas, to access information and to support their efforts, to acquire necessary skills and uplift their social being. eRezeki intend to make a long-term impact on the employability of the persons and reduce inequality/income gaps among society.
