Système Statistique de la Pêche et de l'Aquaculture en Algérie

Description

The overall objective of the new statistical application is to support the ministry of fishing and halieutic productions in consolidating a harmonized and efficient statistical system for fisheries and aquaculture. It will provide decision-makers with objective elements for proven and timely decision-making, guaranteeing both sustainable and responsible management of Algerian fisheries resources and improvement of the socio-economic situation of fishing communities. This tool will allow the DGPA to comply with all national and international requirements such as the FAO, the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) and the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) in terms of fishing and aquaculture statistics (fleet register, fishing gear and compliant species) .

The SSPAAL web computer application was developed and adapted to the Algerian context. This application is hosted in the Data Center, the official start of SSPAAL web was January 1, 2019. This application consists of two components: SSPAALweb Flot: Allows online updating of the fishing fleet register (modification of variables, insertion of new units, deletion of deregistered units, transfer of fishing units from one port to another and management of vessels operating outside their ports of registry) SSPAAL Catch/Effort: Allows the generation of sampling protocols and the entry of samples of catches and fishing effort by category of boat-gear and by fishing port.
