Replicability

Madinati as a platform can be replicated in other countries, because waste management is a need in all countries.
The solution was built in-house in the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing in partnership. It has some copyright restrictions in terms of source code and needs agreements and potential adaptations if it is to be replicated in other countries. However, it is possible for any other country to build a similar solution to achieve similar objectives.

Sustainability

Madinati platform is a sustainable project, and no major future threats to the project's sustainability are expected. The project’s sustainability is based on the fact that the project is built in-house with owned source code. Therefore, it is not dependent on external support. Madinati also benefits from a wide variety and quality of human resources with a well-defined structure and a clear division of responsibilities. It includes product managers, project managers, business analysts, developers, designers, quality testers, and security, operations, and support teams. The project is also gradually being open-sourced, with some features uploaded to the governmental platform for open-source.
Also It is a sustainable platform, since it is provided a service for a long term. In addition to the future plan to Enhancement the functionality by using the AI and Add more sub-services.
Also, All system outputs are reflected on live tracking enterprise dashboard fixed on a technical control room giving an immediate, sustainable reports and statistics satisfying the requirements of decision-makers.
The issued reports are for example, but not limited to:
- Life report for quantities of waste produced.
- Producers of waste according to its types.
- Updated list of waste transporters, exact numbers of vehicles and bins.
- Bins/ collection sites according to e-contracts.
- The number of violations divide by geographic areas.

WSIS values promotion

Madinati is aligned with the WSIS C7 E-Environment Action line. It promotes e- Environment as a digital platform that mange waste utilizing modern technologies with partnership with private sector. Madinati platform system includes tracking waste from the generation points to the approved final disposal points during the waste life cycle, and includes the process of transportation and tracking of waste vehicles using tracking and monitoring devices. It also includes monitoring and tracking the vehicles of all Municipality projects operating in Jeddah in order to serve as a supportive and complementary tool for the Municipality’s work strategy and plans. We used the data of generation points about its area, and activity to determine the suitable size and number of trash bins after calculating the waste quantities automatically using waste generation rate then the system monitor the waste quantities reached to the landfill by the integration with the landfill's waste weighing system, and receiving the waste quantities records to ensure that all quantities of waste have reached to the proper final destination that to overcome the problem of the random disposal of waste. The above solution increased the ability of my organization for more controlling the waste movement and increasing the compliance percentage of the transporters.
