The Situation for ICT in Vanuatu is there is a lack of information communication technology training to empower girls ages 11-15 to become leaders in the ICT field. The SMART Sistas (Sisters Mastering Advanced Real Technology) ICT Camp for girls strives to empower girls ages 11-15 to pursue educational opportunities in information communication technology areas to help Vanuatu reach gender equality in the ICT field. The selection criteria of 10 Girls are based on; - --- familiarity with the English language - ability to follow instructions - very knowledgeable with windows keyboard, mouse and familiarity with a laptop - experience using the internet browser - familiarity with windows graphical user interface. By the end of the five day camp, each girl and their parent/guardian completes; - 24 hours of ICT technical training - 12 hours of leadership and gender empowerment training - 4 hours of career exploration in telecommunications, television, radio broadcasting, computer hardware, software and services and electronic media.
