Information about the project
IoT Smart Home using Eye Tracking and Voice Interface for Elderly and Disabled People
Internet of Things
There are millions of elderly and disabled people around the world. They can't use the home appliances by themselves and therefore they rely on other people to help them to control appliances. As an example many wheelchair people or elderly people who has trouble bending they can't reach switches to turn on and off the lights. Another example where blind people or ALS patients who suffers from paralysis they can't move around to turn on fan or heater or any other appliances. Another example, deaf people cannot hear the door bell and Alzheimer diseased people can forget the gas open in the kitchen. For elderly people or people with disabilities, making our homes accessible is key to promoting independence and having the freedom to live as we choose. This project aims to develop a prototype of smart home for elderly and disabled people using the Internet of Things technology (IoT) to control the home appliances by adding voice and eye tracking interfaces.
