Broad Band Calculator - an automated system for selecting the technological basis for building broadband access networks
BroadBand Calculator
BroadBand Calculator is a universal service platform that allows users to make detailed calculations for their own broadband access development projects in various settlements. BroadBand Calculator was created within the framework of the implementation of the regional initiative for the CIS: "Development of broadband access and adoption of broadband" of the International Telecommunication Union. As a personal working space, the BroadBand Calculator uses the “Project” – a set of “Design objects”, initial data (including set of technologies), results of calculations (modelling) and other information, access to which, as a rule, is given to a limited number of users (project administrators, designers, etc.). Both separate geographical areas, and settlements or their administrative (or other) areas may act as “Design objects”. Algorithms of calculations were specified in the Final Report on Question 1/1 "Policy, regulatory and technical aspects of the migration from existing networks to broadband networks in developing countries, including next-generation networks, m-services, OTT services and the implementation of IPv6" of ITU-D Study Group 1 in the study period 2014-2017. The system is designed for use by both beginners and experienced designers working in the telecommunications field. One of the purposes of the system is to ensure the educational process in the telecommunication universities. From the end of 2017, a Russian-language version of the system is available online at https://broadbandcalculator.online. English and Ukrainian versions will be launched at the beginning of 2018.
