1Gov*Net
1Gov*Net is a single, integrated, secured, and centrally managed telecommunication network service for The Government of Malaysia.1Gov*Net is the expansion of the Electronic Government Network (EG*Net) which was initiated in 1997 as Malaysia was embarking on building the Multimedia Super Corridor in line with National Vision 2020. 1Gov*Net continues as the single telecommunication network enabler to digital government in the public sector. The exemplary shared services recorded a notable 85% saving in cost as compared to single implementation with increase of customer satisfaction index year after year. As to date, 1Gov*Net is serving a total of 43Gbps of bandwidth to 100% connecting a total of 10,400 agencies comprising Ministries, diplomatic missions, state governments, local authorities, hospitals, schools and Public Sector Data Centres at various international, urban, suburban and rural locations using IP Based Virtual Private Network Service (IPVPN), metro-e, Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) and Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) technology. 1Gov*Net runs with proactive monitoring 24x7x365 and complies with the ISO standard for quality in administration, ICT Security and process automation. 1Gov*Net is adopting agile implementation and future-proof technology, 99% achievable service level guarantee and responds to new expectations from citizen for better services, smarter implementation and good policies. Thus, facilitating the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) specifically for Information Society. The success of 1Gov*Net has been crucial in ensuring an efficient government service delivery Malaysia’s ranking in World Economic Forum's (WEF) Global Competitiveness, World Bank Doing Business and improved scoring in UN e-Government rank.
