SEPAS: National Electronic Health Record for Every Citizen
SEPAS
SEPAS is one of the biggest national electronic health record (EHR) projects of its kind in the world, aiming at building a nationally integrated citizen EHR for every Iranian citizen. Nowadays, after 10 years since 2008, Iran has moved from a starting point of no EHR state to 90% coverage of EHR for Iranian citizens. To our knowledge, SEPAS is one of the most unique experience of building a nationally-integrated electronic health records for a triple purpose of healthy citizen, informed government, and enabled researcher. We believe that our experience opens a new path of application of IT in supporting evidence/information-based healthcare management with local to international applications.
