The Internet Society Paraguay Chapter has connected back to the Internet a school located in the city of Lambaré, Paraguay which is one of the most populated cities in the country and with higher levels of inequality. In 2015, the Lambaré National School had structural problems and some classrooms collapsed and several more were demolished. One of these classrooms was the computer lab. In this context, with the support of the Internet Society’s “Beyond the Net Funding Programme”, the project put into operation a computer lab with access to fixed broadband and a classroom equipped with the latest generations of computers. By bringing back the Internet to the school, 1300 students between 12 and 18 years from low and medium-low socioeconomic level now have the opportunity to use computers for education and develop their digital skills. The computer lab with access to the Internet is also helping teacher to prepare their classes. In addition, parents are able to use the computer lab too in order to access to information.
Local implementation: Paraguay, Lambaré
Ongoing from 15/12/2016 to 15/12/2018
