ITU Global Cybersecurity Agenda

Framework for International Cooperation in Cybersecurity

Home

An Agenda for Change, A Global Strategy

Five Pillars of the ITU Global Cybersecurity Agenda

The ITU Global Cybersecurity Agenda is built upon (5) pillars:

1    Legal Framework

4  Capacity-Building

2    Technical Measures

5   International Cooperation

3    Organizational Structures

The last two pillars, capacity-building and international cooperation, cut across efforts in all areas. In order to carry out its agenda, ITU will fully engage its Member states and all the world’s players in its activities. It will collaborate closely with its partners to identify current challenges, consider emerging and future threats, and achieve consensus on strategic priorities. The resulting global framework for international cooperation on cybersecurity will include targeted solutions and programmes which will feed into the Global Cybersecurity Agenda for ongoing and effective implementation.

Within ITU, the Global Cybersecurity Agenda complements the activities of the Sectors and does not duplicate current WSIS implementation programmes. For instance, the Agenda will formulate strategies and develop concrete solutions to facilitate the implementation of ITU-D projects in developing countries, and enhance the work of ITU-T by identifying new areas for standards development and enhancing collaboration with other entities working on cybersecurity-related standards. Moreover, the Global Cybersecurity Agenda will work in harmony with current national and regional initiatives in order to develop a set of forward-looking global strategies and solutions with the support and participation of all relevant stakeholders.
