The International Telecommunication Union (ITU)
is organizing a side-event with the World Intellectual Property
Organization (WIPO) on "The
Effective Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and the
Intellectual Property (IP) System for Mitigating Climate Change".
This side
event, which will include the participation of top decision-makers from
governments and experts from international organizations and the industry, will
debate over the potential role and impact of information and communication
technologies (ICTs) and the intellectual property (IP)
system in promoting the development of new technologies to address the
challenges of climate change, and in leveraging access to technologies for
mitigating climate change.
