10 Moments of Girls in ICT is a series of virtual events hosted by ITU and its partners to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the global International Day of Girls in ICT programme.
This year, in 10 moments, we will launch a new decade of Girls in ICT by celebrating all year long.
The 10 Moments series has been designed with three goals in mind:

Who are #GirlsinICT and how will they change the world? Follow us on social media and get the word out about the many faces of #GirlsinICT! We want to see coders, artists, teachers, engineers, broadcasters, influencers, web devs, DJs, and all the other girls and women creating the future in tech. Get social and tell your story!

On International Girls in ICT Day, we brought together representatives from governments, international organizations, governments, NGOs, community-based organizations and the private sector, to address measures and solutions to close the gender digital divide. The panel provided concrete examples of young girls using technology for good, improving the social and economic status of their communities and building brighter futures for themselves and their families.
April 2021
Educators are often the first to help girls think of STEAM career paths. They provide resources and tools for young women to build their dreams and pursue tech jobs. For this celebration moment, we’re asking universities around the world to present a series of engaging seminars with students in STEAM.

For this #GirlsinICT moment, we invited young girls to share their online experiences, both beneficial and harmful, and to offer an expert forum for solutions to improve child online protection, mental health, child participation and the opportunities presented in a safe online space.

Get inspired by changemakers who believe in the power of #GirlsinICT! This was the moment we announced that nominations opened for the 2021 #EQUALSinTech Awards. This moment highlighted creative and community-minded organizations, large and small, from all over the world, working to close the gender digital divide.

How do we invest in innovative solutions to help and encourage girls to see themselves—and actively pursue careers—as leading agents in the tech sector? What are the financial benefits to companies and society if we can close the gap? With the help of our private sector partners, we’ve put together a resource kit with some programs and initiatives to help inspire and encourage girls and women to be a part of our shared digital future.

Radio and television are crucial ways to get information in countries with limited technology access. To reach girls and encourage them to build bright digital futures for themselves and their communities, broadcasters are key partners. This moment features leaders of global broadcasting unions and radiocommunication experts, showcasing the ways media can help girls and young women get connected and build brighter futures.

Girls and young women need support from communities, activists, educators and networks to build their digital futures. What organizations are creating grassroots support for gender digital equality?
