A Day at NNG for the Programmer Ladies of the Future

During this year's Girls' Day, NNG welcomed female high school students who want to learn more about the IT industry. On April 24th, the attendees had the chance to gain valuable insight of a career at NNG by attending an open day organized for them.

The female perspective is essential in the field of IT. For this reason on April 24th NNG held an open day for 9th, 10th and 11th grade girls who are interested in information technology and computer sciences. Female students learned more about the work, life, and culture of this industry with the help of one of Hungary's most respected IT companies and its employees, the developers of the globally-renowned iGO Navigation. NNG's goal was to draw the teenage girls' attention towards the opportunities lying in the IT/engineering sector and to pass over practical tips to the participants.

After meeting the company's HR Director, the 14 students took part in an interactive discussion with the company's female colleagues about the benefits of choosing an IT-related profession as women. Following the session, one of the lead developers invited the girls to a game combined with a navigation quiz. The event concluded with the guests receiving useful tips from NNG's HR colleagues on future study and career choices.

NNG received very positive feedback from the participants: the majority said that they can imagine working at NNG and our open day aroused their interest towards the IT world. They also said that taking part in similar initiatives in the future would help them choose a career in IT.
