Systems Approach to Cybersecurity Education

ITU, with the Organization for American States (OAS), is working to support institutionalizing an approach to a structured process for a cybersecurity workforce. Given the current gaps in global cybersecurity workforce, and increasing needs of cybersecurity to digital economies, this works supports countries in developing national cybersecurity education capacity.

OUR APPROACH

Through a comprehensive Discussion Paper and a series of interactive workshops, we are addressing crucial aspects of cybersecurity education capacity building on a national level. Our focus revolves around answering key questions:

Envisioning Cybersecurity Education Ecosystems: We aim to explore the inherent value of conceptualizing national cybersecurity education capacity building as a dynamic and interconnected ecosystem.

Balancing Immediate Gaps and Long-Term Needs: We aim to emphasize the importance of countries addressing both their immediate workforce gaps and their future workforce requirements in tandem, ensuring sustained cybersecurity resilience.

Guiding Countries Toward Effective Strategies: We aim to provide practical starting points for countries aiming to navigate and shape their approach to cybersecurity education capacity building.

Fostering Collaboration between Stakeholders: We aim to investigate how governments and stakeholders from the cybersecurity workforce supply and demand sides can collaborate effectively to bridge skills deficits.

Optimizing Resource Allocation: We aim to offer insights into helping resource-constrained countries identify strategic focal points within their cybersecurity ecosystem to make targeted investments in addressing workforce needs.

Empowering Holistic Capacity Development: We aim to delve into how the capacity building community can make informed funding and programming decisions that foster a sustainable and all-encompassing systems approach.
