Young ICT Leaders' Forum 2018

​​​​​​​​​​​​NURTURING DIGITAL INNOVATIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE SMART CITIES

Young ICT Leaders' Forum (YILF) and YILF Challenge 2018 took place from 04–07 September 2018 in Busan City, Republic of Korea. Both events was jointly organized and hosted by Busan Metropolitan City.

The Forum aimed to promote an active participation of youth in the digital economy, including (1) promoting the engagement of youth in the field of ICTs; (2) decreasing the digital divide; and (3) promoting research on emerging ICTs particularly Internet of Things (IoT).​​​

 

Outcome:

The 2018 Young ICT Leaders' Forum (YILF) trained and certified 71 young ICT leaders from 50 countries in skills to build smart cities ecosystems.

About the Young ICT Leaders' Forum(YILF) Challenge 2018

The primary objective of the 2018 challenge was to develop ideas that help create sustainable and vibrant ecosystems supportive of smart cities. 

 

As future leaders of the envisioned smart cities, participants presented their ideas to solve issues facing their digital innovation ecosystems.

YILF Challenge 2018 (Requirements and Rewards)

​This challenge was designed for all young ICT enthusiasts, ecosystem builders or returning BGSC (Busan Global Smart Cities) community volunteers, aged between 18-35 years old

 
Qualified contestants received the following:
  1. ​Round-trip air ticket (economy class) between major airport of the applicant’s country and Gimhae International Airport, Busan, Korea
  2. Hotel accommodation during their stay,
  3. Participation in a global forum session with high power speakers
  4. A two day training, with possibility of a certification on how to become a smart city ecosystem builder
  5. Had an opportunity to make a strong case for smart city development in their community 
  6. Recognition as a young ICT leader in the global stage.​
