One of the Regional Initiatives as set by the last WTDC for Africa region is building confidence in the use of ICTs and of particular focus for ITU is keeping children safe while online. To this end a lot of work has been done and resources on this can be accessed at www.itu.int/cop . Adoption and roll out of COP initiatives in African countries is still in its early stages. In a bid to bring this discussion under the spotlight and to assist countries in overcoming challenges and making meaningful progress in this area.

The Forum will also afford an opportunity for national stakeholders including the youth to zoom in on this issue and together come up with recommendations on next steps in order to make children online experiences safer. The Forum will therefore aim at identifying different countries, while paying attention to have at least one country from each of the five regions in Africa, that have made strides with COP innitiatives to share their experiences and also have an oppurtunity to appreciate the viewpoints of youth from Ghana on their use of the internet and what secuirty concerns they have in their online interactions.

ITU will offer one full fellowship per one identified country from each region in Africa and will also facilitate the round table of the selected youth from all the regions in Ghana.
