ABOUT

International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has organized a three-day regional forum on Cybersecurity, for the Americas Region. The first 1.5 days were dedicated to a cyberdrill exercise consisting of a cyberattack simulation in a controlled environment, and the next 1.5 days are dedicated to workshops on current Cybersecurity issues.
 
The event took place from 26 to 28 August 2013 in Montevideo, Uruguay at the kind invitation of Latin American and Caribbean Internet Addresses Registry (LACNIC).

PURPOSE

The purpose of the cyberdrill was to enhance the communication and incident response capabilities of the participating teams as well as to ensure a continued collective effort in mitigating cyber threats among the region's National Computer Incident Response Teams (CIRTs).
 
The cyberdrill exercise was structured around various scenarios involving the most common types of cyberattacks whilst the workshop provides a platform for cooperation, information sharing, and discussions on Cybersecurity.

Staff of telecommunication administrations, regulatory authorities, regional organizations, CERTs, sector members and special guests from America’s region:
