Training for Trainers under Connect a School Initiative, Kyrgyz Republic, March-April 2015

OVERVIEW

A series of short-term training courses for informatics teachers of rural settlements of Kyrgyz Republic within the framework of the ITU Connect a School initiative was organized by the ITU Area Office for CIS in cooperation with the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication under Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I.Razzakov. The trainings are aimed at improvement of digital literacy of the school teachers (la majority of the trainees are women), which, in its turn, directly influences the level of computer literacy of Kyrgyz school children, including potential mothers, and, therefore, makes Information and Communications Technologies more accessible for them, including information on maternal health care services, family planning etc.

The trainings for Kyrgyz informatics teachers were first organized in 2012, and, considering the positive feedback from the trainees and the appreciation of the Government of Kyrgyz Republic, similar trainings were organized in 2013, 2014, and 2015. This year training activities foresee training courses for 6 regions of Kyrgyz Republic.
