WSIS Fund in Trust

Call for Contributions 2026

The WSIS Trust Fund was established in 2011 with the adoption of Plenipotentiary Conference Resolution 140. Building on this mandate, Council Resolution 1332, as modified by the ITU Council in 2024, reaffirms the continuation of the WSIS Fund in Trust to support ITU activities that facilitate the implementation of WSIS outcomes. It calls for partnerships and strategic alliances and invites the ITU Membership to make voluntary contributions to the fund.

Since its creation, information on the WSIS Fund in Trust and stakeholder contributions has been reflected here—the dedicated website of the WSIS Fund in Trust. ITU thanks all those who have contributed to the Fund to date for their dedication and commitment to WSIS implementation, particularly towards the annual WSIS Forum events (2009–2025). Moving forward, and following the multistakeholder approach, the WSIS Forum will build upon the outcomes of the WSIS+20 Review and continue to advance efforts aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025 was held from 7 to 11 July 2025, co-organized by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP, and UNCTAD and co-hosted by ITU and the Swiss Confederation. The Event gathered over 11,000 participants onsite and online, including nearly 60 ministers, deputies, and heads of regulatory authorities. With representation from 169 countries, the Event featured around 250 sessions with over 1,000 speakers. The outcome reports and highlights of the 2025 Event can be found here.

WSIS Forum 2026 is scheduled to be held from 6 to 10 July 2026, in Geneva, Switzerland, with support for remote participation. The trust and unwavering support from all stakeholders, especially the contributors to the WSIS Fund in Trust are greatly appreciated.

All ITU membership and other interested stakeholders are encouraged to contribute to the WSIS Fund in Trust for the year 2026, and all stakeholders are invited to partner with the WSIS Forum 2026.
