L'UIT est la principale source de publication d'informations sur les technologies, la réglementation et la normalisation dans le domaine des télécommunications. Elle a publié plus de 4'500 titres en version papier et le nombre de publications sur CD-ROM, sur DVD et en ligne ne cesse d'augmenter.
Secteur du développement (UIT-D)
Les fonctions du Secteur du développement des télécommunications consistent à faciliter et à améliorer le développement des télécommunications en fournissant des conseils et une assistance technique directe. Les activités du Secteur UIT-D sont diverses: conseils en matière de politique générale et de réglementation, de financement des télécommunications et de techniques à faible coût, assistance dans le domaine de la gestion des ressources humaines et conception de projets visant à favoriser le développement rural et l’accès universel. Dans toutes ces activités, le Secteur du développement des télécommunications et son agent d’exécution, le Bureau de développement des télécommunications (BDT), accordent une importance particulière à la négociation de partenariats avec le secteur privé, l’objectif étant de mettre les forces commerciales du secteur au service des pays en développement et de leurs besoins.
