Geneva, 26 June 2014: Mr Brahima Sanou thanked Mr José Manuel do Rosário Toscano, Director General and CEO of the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO) for his commitment to achieving sustainable-development through ICTs. Mr Sanou and Mr Toscano met yesterday at ITU Headquarters in Geneva.
During the meeting, Mr Toscano was awarded the ITU-D Membership Ten-Year Certificate in recognition of ITSO's support and participation in the activities of the ITU-D sector over the past 10 years.
"Under your leadership, ITSO has played a pivotal role in all our activities and in helping ITU-D reach its objectives," said Mr Sanou.
Mr Toscano said he was honoured to receive the certificate on behalf of ITSO and praised the working relationship with ITU.
ITSO became ITU-D Sector Member in 2003. It is an intergovernmental organization with th mission to ensure that Intelsat, Ltd. provides public telecommunications services, including voice, data and video, on a global and non-discriminatory basis. Headquartered in Washington D.C., ITSO currently has 149 member countries.
