The pandemic has led us to rethink our approaches by building back better. With 10 years remaining to connect the 3.9 billion of the world’s population, it is crucial that digital development approaches are based on evidence and fit for purpose.

The Academia plays an essential role in bridging between research and effectiveness of today’s public policy and strategies to support this effort. Academia’s ability to produce data and analysis will allow for better formulation digital inclusive strategies to achieve the various SDG targets.

Assessment based on robust disaggregated data, participatory research and collaboration provides a good foundation to support decision making for a more sustainable innovation, verifying socioeconomic problems at the global, regional and country level.

The session would bring together academia and other R&D institutes to discuss the important role academia plays for sustainable future ICT solutions.

Outlines of topics:
  • Emerging priority areas of focus in research needed to support a more sustainable and responsible digital development in Asia and the Pacific;
  • Partnership and collaborative strategies between Academia, Governments and International Organisation to support digital development efforts promote flow of knowledge;
