International Girls in ICT Day 2024

The global celebration of International Girls in ICT Day 2024 was be held on 25 April 2024. This year and every year, ITU and partners work together to inspire and encourage girls to pursue a future in ICTs towards bridging the digital gender divide. The aim is to encourage young women and girls to pursue their studies and careers in science, engineering, technology, mathematics, and other fields and help them achieve their dreams.

This year, the theme of Girls in ICT Day is ‘Leadership’. The global Girls in ICT event ​was celebrated on 25 April at the Far Eastern University (FEU), Manila, Philippines in coordination and collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). 

In the CIS Region, a series of events was held to celebrate the Girls in ICT Day.

In Kazakhstan we partnered with the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Technowomen Kazakhstan to support international forum „Technowomen Central Asia: AI Future”​ in Astana on 18-19 April.

In Kyrgyzstan on the 22 April a roundtable dedicated to international Girls in ICT Day was hosted by Kyrgyz State Technical University named after Iskhak Razzakov and supported by Kyrgyz Software and Services Developers' Association. The roundtable brought together young women entrepreneurs, students of the university, representatives of the international organisations to share their experience in ICT industry and explore opportunities in STEM career in Kyrgyzstan and globally.
