As background, ten years ago, the ITU organized a
joint workshop on taxation of telecommunications services and related products. Since that time, the telecommunications/ICT market has evolved considerably, leading to interest in this topic in both the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T), particularly in ITU-T Study Group 3, and in the ITU Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D). This workshop provides an opportunity to bring together diverse experts to share perspectives and exchange information on the latest developments in this field, with a view towards advancing international cooperation and coordination.
The workshop will provide a platform for discussions between taxation experts, policy makers, regulators, economists, standardization experts and other interested participants from the membership of ITU and other non-members; from developing and developed countries, including economies in transition, academia and research entities, industry, OTT and/or telecommunication/ICT service providers and platforms, other international organizations, and interested individuals etc.
Participation in the workshop is free of charge and open to all ITU Member States, Sector Members, Associates and Academic Institutions and to any individual from a country that is a member of ITU who wishes to contribute to the work. This includes individuals who are also members of international, regional and national organizations.
