Summary: The New section to GSup 41 to ITU-T G-series Recommendations provide guidance for the determination of fibres within submarine cables. Methods presented within this section cover use of colours and markers to allow for unique identification of each fibre. Testing guidance is established to ensure accuracy and repeatability for end customer. It is the intent of this new section in GSup 41 that the colours and markers used in accordance with this new section are intended to be permanent for the design life of the cable. This new section is intended to set the initial framework for identification of fibre used only in submarine cable systems.
