Summary: Data fusion service (DFS) is a converged data service in artificial intelligence of things (AIoT), which merges, combines and integrates metadata (not raw data) from different data resources (such as IoT devices, IoT systems, databases, cloud data platforms) into a coherent form, and provides data processing and management (DPM) capabilities to data consumers (such as for machine learning model training). The DFS can be enhanced by knowledge database (such as relational, graph), artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). The DFS dynamically collects metadata (not raw data) from different data resources and make intelligent data catalogs in real-time by using AI/ML and knowledge database, and provides smart data provision capability to allow data consumers in AIoT to access data with QoE/QoS and security assurance. The DFS supports smart data integration capability. By using the DFS, the data organizations and consumers don’t need to integrate and bring raw data together from different data resources. The DFS can enable organizations in AIoT to unify their disparate data systems, improve data governance capability, provide intelligent data accessibility and integration across multiple data platforms, and to enhance data collaboration within organizations. This draft new Recommendation specifies the data fusion service in artificial intelligence of things (AIoT), and provides relevant technical characteristics, functional requirements, reference architecture and capabilities of the data fusion service in AIoT.
