ITU Regional Training Workshop on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Indicators for Latin America, 28-29 October 2019. Mexico, Mexico.

ABOUT

The workshop will present an overview of the work on ICT measurement carried out worldwide by the ICT Data and Statistics Division, ITU / BDT, including the ICT Development Index; discuss the main groups of telecommunications / ICT indicators compiled by ITU, their definitions and methodological issues; the dissemination and harmonization of ICT data internationally; ITU data collection / questionnaires; ITU manuals; as well as mechanisms for the national coordination of ICT statistics. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to share their countries' experience in the collection, harmonization and coordination of telecommunications / ICT indicators.

PURPOSE

The main objectives of the Workshop are:

  1. To Strengthen the capacity of the countries of the Americas to produce ICT indicators and statistics in accordance with international standards and methodologies, as described in the ITU Manual. (Overall objective)
  2. Communicate to the official producers of ICT data in the Americas the revision of the ICT Development Index (IDI) and the data that will be required for its calculation. Support the efforts of the countries of the Americas to meet the deadline of the following ITU questionnaire for the compilation of the revised set of IDI indicators.
  3. For the main indicators required to monitor the development of ICT, the workshop will discuss definitions, methodologies and data gaps in the Americas. The focus will be on indicators related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the revised group of IDI indicators.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The workshop is intended and therefore welcomes participants who are responsible for ICT policies and advisors, participants responsible for collecting and / or producing such statistics in ministries, regulatory agencies and national statistical offices.
