Digital Skills Assessments

The countries in Asia and the Pacific are experienced rapid digital transformation driven by broadband connectivity, adoption of digital strategies and implementation of digital applications. Digital transformation was changed the labour market in almost all sectors, including agriculture, education, environment, finance, health, commerce, transport, and tourism, among others.

This required countries to enable their citizens to benefit from the impact of digital transformation, based on the strategic direction of countries, through digital skills that could enable citizens to be competitive and employable in the global society and economy.  In addition, countries also need to ensure that the business sector can find the skilled workforce they require to remain competitive.

Hence, an evidence-based approach was important to ensure that the implementation of digital skills programs in countries was based on accurate data and information available on the existing supplied of a digitally skilled cohort at a national and community level. This requiresd that skills demand from industry and other sectors are systematically assessed, to identify skills gaps, and to develop policies to address future digital skills requirements.

This webinar would be addressed these issues by presenting the ITU  Digital Skills Assessment Guidebook as a practical tool for countries to assess the existing level of digital skills, and identify skills that are required to meet the current and future needs of member countries.

Objective:

• To present the ITU Digital Skills Assessment Guidebook to ITU Members;
• To provide an overview of the objective and tools available in the Digital Skills Assessment Guidebook to meet the
  current and future needs of member countries including the technological advantages, challenges, and
  opportunities; and
• To identify possible opportunities and entry points for Digital Skills Assessment to be conducted at the community
  and national level.

Target audience:

This webinar was aimed for policy-makers, ICT professionals in the area of capacity development in government agencies, private sectors, non-governmental organizations and Academia who are currently working on developing and implementing digital skills strategies, with a particular focus in conducting  a digital skills assessment.
