The International Youth Forum “Eurasia Global", dedicated to the International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development, was held from 2 to 8 September 2021 in Orenburg, Russia.

“Eurasia Global" is a platform for practical dialogue between Russia and foreign countries. The International Youth Forum was held for the sixth time and has united more than 4000 young people from all over the world since it began.

One of the main tracks of the Forum's business program was the topic Voice of the youth - modern media and communication means.

As part of this track, on 3 September, Natalia Mochu, Regional Director for CIS Region took part in the Forum session on Telecommunication Trends in 2021 where she delivered a presentation on Opportunities for the Youth Voice Realization at the International Arena - the Approach of the International Telecommunication Union.

The presentation covered the Generation Connect initiative as the overarching initiative of the ITU Youth Strategy, Generation Connect Visionaries Board activities, and ITU global and regional events on the journey to the WTDC. The presentation was to show how the three pillars of ITU's Youth Strategy – Engage, Empower and Participate – can help young people to be heard by a large number of stakeholders at the global level and contribute to the shaping the Digital Agenda.

Besides, the business program, the Forum included the following tracks:

  1. Partnerships in education and competence development. New role of the human potential. Target audience of the track - young specialists in human competence development, HR-specialists, teachers and coaches.
  2. Global youth entrepreneurship. Target audience of the track - young entrepreneurs, leaders of the youth cooperative organizations, leaders of the youth entrepreneurial unions, startuppers, social entrepreneurs.
  3. From conscious consumption to sustainable development. Objectives and challenges for the young people who build the world for themselves and their descendants. Target audience of the track - specialists in sustainable development, leaders of the public associations, urban activists.

Generation Connect is the main initiative of the ITU Youth Strategy on the journey to World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) and the WTDC Generation Connect Global Youth Summit. It aims to engage global youth and encourage their participation as equal partners alongside the leaders of today's digital change, empowering young people with the skills and opportunities to advance their vision of a connected future.

The Generation Connect Visionaries Board has been assembled as part of the implementation of the ITU Youth Strategy to further champion the voices of youth to advance digital development. The board is comprised of 8 competitively selected young leaders, 8 nominated high-level appointees and the BDT Director of the ITU. Board members are working together over an initial period of a year to achieve the board's strategic objectives in the build up to WTDC and the Generation Connect Youth Summit.

Within the framework of the global Generation Connect initiative, 6 regional groups were created earlier this year, which included young people aged 18 to 24 years.
