ITU-DCAF Workshop for Western Balkan CIRTs

 

​​One day workshop on "Connecting and Building Capacities of the CIRT Community in Western Balkans" was organised by ITU at the kind invitation of the Ministry of Public Administration of Montenegro and in collaboration with DCAF in the context of the project “Enhancing 2 Cybersecurity Governance in the Western Balkans” (2018-2021), which is implemented by DCAF and funded by the UK Government’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). The workshop​ took place on Wednesday, 2 October 2018 in "Gallery" room, Avala Hotel, Budva, Montenegro, during INFOFEST 2019. 

Organized within the framework of the ITU Regional Initiative for Europe on Enhancing trust and confidence in the use of information and communicati​on technologies adopted by the ITU World Telecommunication Development Conference 2017 (WTDC-17), this workshop offered the opportunity to representatives of National CERTs and political representatives from Western Balkans countries to discuss and share practices on cybersecurity and build and strenghten European CERT community. In addition, it aimed to enhance the communication of the participants as well as to ensure a continued collective effort in mitigating cyber threats among the regions' national Computer Incident Response Teams (CIRTs) and Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs).

In this workshop, comprehensive understanding in aspects of improving incident communication amongst the CERT community, including the technical tools, policy and political aspects on CERT communication and information sharing at the national, regional and international level has been shared by experts from ITU, DCAF and NRD-CS.

Furthermore, this meeting hosted by Montenegro, has been a platform for participants to provide inputs to the Information sharing practices in Western​ Balkans. ​​​
