ITU Regional Forum for Europe: 5G Strategies, Policies and Implementation

The ITU Regional Forum for Europe: 5G Strategies, Policies and Implementation was organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) with the support of the Chancellery of The Prime Minister (KPRM) of the Republic of Poland

The Forum, originally planned in Warsaw, Poland, at the kind invitation of the Chancellery of The Prime Minister (KPRM) of the Republic of Poland​​, took place virtually from 22 to 23 October 2020. This Forum was organized within the framework of the ITU European Regional Initiative on Broadband Infrastructure, broadcasting and spectrum management adopted by the ITU World Telecommunication Development Conference 2017 (WTDC-17).
 
The Event focused on challenges and opportunities related to 5G implementation, with particular reference to regional and national strategies and policies as well as private sector use cases and commercialization and EMF and other challenges. While referring to the vision of turning Europe into a Gigabit Society by 2025, this Forum discussed, in particular:

• Regional 5G Strategies
• National 5G Strategies in EU Countries
• National 5G Strategies in non-EU Countries
• 5G Implementation: private sector developments and commercialization
• 5G Implementation: EMF and other challenges

The outcomes of this Forum will contribute to the works of ITU on 5G, including those undertaken by Study Groups of Radiocommunication, Standardization and Development Sectors.

The 5G Conference for Europe brought together up to 200 attendees including European policymakers, government officials, international organizations, business leaders, industry experts, innovation promoters, start-ups, academia.
