Special Dedicated Session: ITU FOCUS GROUP ON METAVERSE (FG-MV) SPECIAL EVENT ​​

​Within the context of the special session on the metaverse, there will be: 

• Analysis of technical requirements: The session will examine the technical requirements of the metaverse to identify fundamental enabling technologies across various domains, including multimedia, network optimization, digital currencies, Internet of Things (IoT), digital twins, and environmental sustainability. 
• Collaborative platform: The session will provide a collaboration platform for dialogue, enabling ITU-T to identify stakeholders for potential collaboration. It will also allow the inclusion of non-members to contribute to the technical pre-standardization work. 
• Relevant use cases: The session will enrich the Focus Group's work by identifying and discussing relevant use cases that demonstrate the practical applications and potential impact of the metaverse. 
  

 ITU-T Focus Group on metaverse (FG-MV)​

The ITU-T Focus Group on metaverse was established under TSAG on 16 December 2022. The group will analyze the technical requirements of the metaverse to identify fundamental enabling technologies in areas from multimedia and network optimization to digital currencies, Internet of Things, digital twins, and environmental sustainability.

It will also provide a collaboration platform for dialogue, for identifying stakeholders with whom ITU-T could collaborate, and for enabling the inclusion of non-members to contribute to the technical pre-standardization work. The Focus Group work will be enriched with the identification of relevant use cases.
