5G Techritory Forum 2023

​The ITU Office for Europe, in partnership with 5G Techritory, is delighted to present 5G Techritory 2023, which will take place on 18-19 October 2023, in Riga, Latvia. The highlight of this year edition will be 2nd Special Session of the ITU Focus Group on metaverse on 18 October, in Riga, Latvia. 

The 5G Techritory platform aims to bring together key players in 5G development, fostering a robust and aligned 5G Ecosystem in Europe and beyond. The event will take place in phygital (combined physical and digital), with speakers and VIP guests will attend in person while the event will be streamed online to thousands of viewers worldwide. This year's event will feature comprehensive content, focusing on the theme "5G in Action," covering topics such as the technical readiness and use cases of the Metaverse, Cybersecurity aspects of 5G, 6G research and development, Open RAN deployment, and Digital legislation. 

5G Techritory is organized by the Electronic Communications Office of Latvia, powered by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and the European Regional Development Fund, in cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union, within the framework of the ITU Regional Initiatives for Europe. 5G Techritory strategic partners also include the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia, LMT, the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Nordic Council, and the Digital Accelerator of Latvia.

Special Dedicated Session: ITU FOCUS GROUP ON METAVERSE (FG-MV) SPECIAL EVENT ​


​Within the context of the special session on the metaverse, there will be: 

 ITU-T Focus Group on metaverse (FG-MV)​


The ITU-T Focus Group on metaverse was established under TSAG on 16 December 2022. The group will analyze the technical requirements of the metaverse to identify fundamental enabling technologies in areas from multimedia and network optimization to digital currencies, Internet of Things, digital twins, and environmental sustainability.

It will also provide a collaboration platform for dialogue, for identifying stakeholders with whom ITU-T could collaborate, and for enabling the inclusion of non-members to contribute to the technical pre-standardization work. The Focus Group work will be enriched with the identification of relevant use cases.
