The Global technical standardization: Effective engagement of European industry event, organised as a side event to Com-ITU Pleanary, took place on Tuesday 7 May 2024, from 09:30 to 12:45 (CEST), in Gdańsk, Poland. The event was organized jointly by the ITU Europe Office and the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (ITU-T) and aimed to explore how stakeholders from Europe, including industry leaders, can actively and efficiently engage in ITU-T activities and implement ITU-T standards. It also discussed approaches to bridge the standardization gap (BSG) and to promote women's engagement in ITU activities with analytics customized to Europe.​​​​

Bridging the Gender Gap: Inspiring women to lead in tech

This session aimed to provide leadership insights for women in the European digital landscape and offer recommendations for women embarking on careers in technology fields.  

The session also looked back at International Girls in ICT Day and introduced participants to ITU's Network of Women and its latest campaign leading up to the governing conference for ITU standardization, the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly, in New Delhi, India, 15-24 October 2024.
