The Regional Training Workshop on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Indicators took place from 24-27 February 2014 in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia. The workshop provided an overview of the work on ICT measurement undertaken globally by the ITU's ICT Data and Statistics Division. It presented the ICT Development Index and the ICT Price Basket; discussed the main groups of telecommunication/ICT indicators collected by ITU, their definitions, methodological issues and availability in the region; discussed the dissemination and harmonization of ICT data at the international level; and covered ITU data collection questionnaires; ITU manuals; as well as mechanisms for the national coordination of ICT statistics. Participants had the opportunity to share the experience of their countries in the collection, harmonization and coordination of telecommunication/ICT indicators.
The objective of the workshop was to strengthen the capacity of countries in the region to produce national statistics and indicators on telecommunications and ICT. The workshop brought together experts responsible for collecting and/or producing such statistics in ministries, regulatory agencies and national statistical offices in the Caribbean,.
