Workshop on recent developments relevant to EMF policy formulation

This workshop on strategies and policies concerning human exposure to electromagnetic fields took​ place at ITU Headquarters (ITU Montbrillant building, Room K) in Geneva, Switzerland on Wednesday, 8 May 2024, 14:30 – 17:30 hours, followed by the ITU-D Study Group 2 Question 7/2 meeting dedicated to “Strategies and policies concerning human exposure to electromagnetic fields” on Thursday, 9 May 2024, from 09:30 to 17:30 hours.

Background information

Given the rapid proliferation of electronic devices and wireless technologies, understanding the impact of EMF on human health and establishing appropriate safety standards has become increasingly important. The workshop will provide an essential platform for discussing recent activities both in other ITU Sectors and international organizations that have been actively engaged in EMF research and guideline development. 

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about and debate current national activities on human exposure to RF-EMF, as well as international efforts to harmonize EMF exposure limits. Insights into how different countries are approaching the challenges posed by EMF will be shared, and case studies from various regions will be presented. 

By fostering an environment of knowledge exchange and collaboration, this workshop endeavors to support the development of well-informed EMF policies, that protect public health while enabling the continued growth and innovation of wireless technologies.
